Bring May Flowers

April has come and gone, and we had some awesome moments together. This is one of my favorite times of year, when everything is fresh, green, and new. Now that a brand new month is upon us, I thought it was time to announce a couple of minor changes coming to the Lighthouse over the next month or two!

The last two months have been fantastic, and I appreciate each and every one of you readers. For me, the Lighthouse isn’t about the views or the following: it’s about making a difference in the world and being a light for Christ. If we allow ourselves to lose sight of that mission, then not a lot that we do truly matters eternally.

I want to thank you all so much for your support and feedback since March. I also hope that not only will you stick around; but you’ll continue to enjoy and be impacted by what you find enough to share it with some friends!

As I said, May is going to be slightly different than the last two months, and there will be a couple changes and possibly some new things coming this way very soon! You’ll have to keep a close eye out for those. 🔍 😉

Around the Lighthouse you’ll also notice the new color for this month, a bright green that mimics the cheery colors popping up all around this time of year. Now for a recap of what happened in the month of April!

In the beginning of April, we started off with a snapshot of Lessons from a Sheep Dog, a fantastic book about loyalty and godly examples of obedience taught through the journey of a sheep dog and his master. Then we jumped into our overarching topic for the month, Friendship, and explored what it means to be a friend and how to make lasting friendships that honor God.

Next, we looked at some of the pros and cons of Minecraft, a widely-played sandbox video game. Then we moved on and lingered on the topic of Loneliness, something that a lot of teens are unfortunately familiar with. From there, the Captain America: The Winter Soldier Snapshot continued the story of Steve Rogers and examined the exemplary core values of the intense, 2014 action movie.

Easter, one of my very favorite times of the year, came along on Sunday, April 21, and we had a special, two-part post to celebrate. Loyal in the Darkest Times and Even to the End of the Age launched over the weekend and relived the story of the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Loyalty was brought through as a common thread between the two posts, reminding us that Jesus was loyal to us even unto death, but that wasn’t the end. He’ll be with us until the very end of the Age.

To finish off the month of April, we had two posts: a snapshot on Avengers: Age of Ultron and an article on Forgiveness. Avengers: Age of Ultron relooked at the ups and downs of the follow up to both Captain America: The Winter Soldier and 2012’s Avengers. Finally, Unstoppable Forgiveness closed out our theme of Friendship for the month by exploring what it means to forgive in light of being forgiven, and also by reminding us of the importance of our friendships. Those can’t be tossed as if they’re disposable.

This Month on the Lighthouse

May has now arrived, and with it, the full package of Springtime. Our theme for the upcoming month is Peace in the midst of a chaotic world. I feel like this will resonate with a lot of fellow teens, and I can’t wait to see how God will use the Lighthouse this month to impact people.

There will be a couple surprises, and some announcements, so stayed tuned and keep an eye out for some really exciting things coming this way as you wrap up your school year and projects!

May God bless your month! I’ve got a feeling that this is going to be a good one. 😁
